Councilman Júlíus Vífill Ingvarsson, of the conservative Indepentance Party in Reykvavik, has resigned as of 2 pm today, after fourteen years on the council. This follows the exposure of an off-shore company, Silwood Foundation, set up for Ingvarsson by the Panamanian lawfirm Mossack Fonseca in 2014.
Mr. Ingvarsson, as reported by Rme.is in a recent Kastljós special, had failed to mention his ownership of Silwood in the council's disclosure of assets and possible conflict-of-interrests when he came to office.
